Unhappy Spirit 1991 blower motor replace reinstall going bad

Hello. I have a '91 Dodge Spirit 2.5L. I replaced the heater/AC resistor and blower motor. The problem is I unplugged the old motor which rests in the housing with a hole in the back for the power cable to go through. Unfortunately when I unplugged the old one it went back and got stuck in the assembly behind the housing. I can't get it out. I have tried to get the assembly loose to at least get my hands back there to get more space between the firewall and assembly but I can't find anything to unscrew to loosen it. I don't think anything is screwed in from the firewall. I thought I might be able to loosen the dashboard but I am now going through the central air ducts/heater C control/radio and remove air ducts but that appears to be a pointless excursion. I have a Haynes book but I don't think it has been much of a help. I don't want to cut the cord but I may have to. Can anyone please help me?
