RE: please help I'm new
If you have a SRT-4, you technically already have a BOV which vents the excess boost to the atmosphere, but it does it very, very quietly. The Mopar BOV which most of the postings talk about here, makes the sound a lot louder, for a price of around $65.
Think of the air brakes on an 18 Wheeler......PSSSSHHHHHHH!!!! Everytime you shift the gears, gotta love it or gotta hate it......it's up to you. |

The BOV won't make it go any faster, but it WILL sound bad A**!!!!

RE: please help I'm new
To be technically correct, the stock "BOV" is actually a diverter valve (common name) or surge valve (PVO/SRT) name.
It's not a BOV since it send that excess boost back into the intake, hence the low volume. the Mopar plate "diverts" that pressurized air back into the atmosphere, hence the louder sound. Finally put a Mopar plate on a local owners car, WHAT A PITA!!!!! Forge MUCH easier!!!!!!!!!! No gasket, one piece, no sealant. I can finally compare them instalation-wise. |
RE: please help I'm new
I was wondering how well the Forge seals during high boost situations, because I have read that the stock valve tends to leak boost over 18 psi.
