RE: '04 Srt-4 vs '05 WRX
i think you guys are over-estimating what s2 can do. on street tires, it's good for about 13.1-13.4, dr's 12.8-13.0. this is on race gas too. on pump gas it's more like 13.3-13.6 on street tires. this is the same range that a stock sti will run in. so no, you won't "kill" and sti, but it should be a good race. that would really be a driver's race.
as for the wrx, sure the wrx will get the jump on the line, but that's all it will get. a stock wrx cannot keep up with a stock srt-4. i've run plenty of them and i've beaten all of them. even a friend of mine with some minor bolt ons couldn't keep up with me when i was stock. needless to say he was very upset about that considering that he bought his wrx used for about the same as a brand new srt. oh, and did i mention that he sold his wrx and is buying an srt-4?

sti stock I have seen run from 13.2 to 13.5 at the track. Even though they are more expensive they are no joke. Stock 4 stock from a dig or roll (unless the sti driver is drunk) they will win. With your stage 2 and other mods you will get him from a roll and from a dig it wil be closer but I think you got him there too.

My close friend has a wrx and we have run many times, and driven each others cars. We agree that there is no comparison between the two over 20 mph. 0-20 the wrx can launch, but my friend doesn't want to fry the clutch/tranny, so even 0-20 the srt is a winna'.
I have driven many STI's and they are great cars. I have raced them a few times and can say that some have gone each way. It is definitely a drivers race in the quarter with a s2 srt-4. From a roll the srt-4 is about dead even with the sti.
Note: For some reason I have done better against the EVO's. Maybe it is the fac that it is a 2 litre, but from a roll the srt-4 was usually better s0 and better for sure s2. From a dig those cars are nuts, but it costs a lot to replace a tranny due to dumping @ 6000rpms (5000 on newer ones) And by the end of the quarter, stock the evo just took it. S-2 About even.
