13's! Stock! WoooooHoooo!

Went to Martin Mi Sat. Test and tune. Track was busy. Temps mid 50's and it was overcast. Power yes. Traction no. Ran a string of 14 oh's. Was getting bummed. Thought I may have to finish the year not getting into the 13's. I was spinning badly in first every time sticking to my 2000 rpm launch technique. I decided to just go out really mild once, get the clutch all out early and roll into the gas and let the engine do the work. Also let my tires down from a previous 25 psi to 23 psi. Presto! 13.95! YEAH! I couldn't believe it worked so good! Better yet, spanked a built v-8 s-10 truck in the process. 9 runs made, 3 in the 13's. Best et; 13.86. Worst et; 14.88 when I totally blew the 2-3. Best mph; 99.52. Best 60'; 2.12. Best rt; .5329 (on a 500 tree) Race weight with me in car and 1/4 tank of gas was 3125. I'll try to get the timeslip posted, but it is pretty light ink.
Engine & ECU stage 0.
9000 miles.
Orig plugs +wires.
5w30 Mobil.
Orig tranny fluid.
Orig airfilter & box.
Orig exhaust.
I do have non Oem 16x7 rims w/225-55-16 Fuzion ZRI's on the car.
I'm stoked!
Must be because it's a 2004.........................Just kidding!

Man...you went without me! HAHA. Oh well..no biggy. I was working anyhow. Congrats on the times. I've heard that track is not that fast, but I've yet to run my car at that one. The only one I've been to is mid-michigan. Gotta get out once in the cold air, since I have the intake equipped now.

Sweet! Congrats. I've yet to run mine, knowing my luck it would blow the **** up. And for some reason when you really get on it in 2nd gear, it refuses to shift into 3rd? [>:]

Yeah the tires. I know. I'll concede to that. But they are pretty ordinary tires, not huge and not drag radials. So my happiness remains totally undiminished. This is also only my second time to this track and second time with this car. But everything else is very scary stock. Even ran with the spare tire in place and wife's beloved 89 octane. (it is her daily driver and honestly, I hardly ever drive it) I wanted to see if I could get the car into the 13's without touching the engine and I accomplished that. The tires are what they are and will be on the car every day I drive it and as such need to be part of my "baseline" for whatever performance increases are made to the engine in the future. Traction was so horrible that day, I KNOW the car has a 13.7 or 13.6 in it yet, but now I don't care about stock. I have yet to run against anything in the "street" class at the track that is as stock as mine, So I've done what I wanted, time to upgrade!

Btw, PSI, how fast was yours "stock" and was that with or without a tire change? Just curious.

And yeah Spark, the 2-3 is always hard to get right, and once in a while, the trans just says "no way". Not sure why, but it just locks you out.

Sorry, Slone. I usually don't even know untill friday If I'm gonna race saturday. The moons have to be right & the wife has to be cool. If you're married with children like me, you'll know what I mean.

Ok, we are dead even at 13.86 and 225's. You do have me in trap speed by 3 mph. Could be my extra 100 lbs of butt there, I don't know. I cant seem to break 100 and that does bother me just a little. 99.52 is my best trap so far.

Even not getting on it hard my car does it from time to time. It did it to my tech today when he was out driving the car with the new *stock* turbo in it. Now this new turbos rattling like a son of a bitch. My bets are this ones blown too. It started doing it tonight after he really romped on it today. He tried to WOT and missed the 2-3 shift for that very reason. I wasnt paying attention to whether he hit redline or not, but it revved AWFUL high. And then tonight on a cold start-up the turbo was rattling all over again. Sounds horrible. If I knew a place to host a video Id host it and post a link here. Its pitch black, but you can hear the sound of bearings running rampant through the turbo housing. I wanted to cry.....its like wtf...NOT AGAIN
