#4 Spark Plug Wire

Just a "heads up" to SRT-4 owners, make sure you watch your #4 spark plug wire. I checked mine today and sure enough, it's already turned white from the turbo heat with only 1100 miles on the car. I purchased a set of DEi Plug Wire Sheaths from Summit Racing and put one on the #4 wire, it covers the wire and part of the boot. It's pretty heavy duty and should give some added life to the wire. I'd hate to have to put my MSDs on after only 1100 miles on the original wires....[:@]

You might as well put on the MSD's, besides then it will also get a whole lot more spark energy to the plugs.[sm=smiley2.gif]

Remember though, the original wires are frying quickly right from the factory, so I'm surprised you got 1100 out of them so far to be honest... I'd put the MSD's on and not fret about it at all... once the MSD's are on, then you won't have to worry and another positive mod done to your girl... ;)

Your both right, I was in a hurry and looking for a quick "fix". I'll put the MSDs on tonight as well as the silver plug sheaths. It'll look cool and it'll be cool!!!! Thanks!![sm=smiley20.gif]

Well, thanks to DF I caught the problem in time. Back in December I think, somebody on DF talked about their plug wire needing replacement after about 1100 miles...when my SRT-4 showed that same mileage, I knew I should check SOMETHING under the hood, but I couldn't remember what. When I saw the white wire, it all came back to me....[sm=smiley32.gif]

Yep... it's HIGHLY recommended that the first mod any SRT-4 does is MSD Wires (or any high conducting wire) because of the problem... now why DCX doesn't put better wires on the SRT-4 to begin with... that's beyond me... LOL! But at least it's another kick ass mod for ya! :) Glad you checked, frying wires is NOT cool. LOL!!

RE: #4 Spark Plug Wire

The MSD wires went on without a hitch, even with me doing it!!!! One thing I discovered was the plug wire sheaths won't fit the MSD wires due to the 90 degree angle of the connector end. That's no problem since the 90 angle takes the wire out of harms way from the turbo heat....and the red wires look a lot sexier than the stock!!![sm=smiley4.gif]
