Hi all from Canada

Hi all my name is Kevin and I need to pick some brains here.I have a 1989 dodge Dakota 3.9 5 speed manual trans.some one told me that the computer will not communicate with the vehicle, so I turned the key to see for myself and the truck ran for approx.5 seconds then died, I was also told that it may have something to do with the wiring harness ,so I started looking and following wires and sure enough I found a few wires broken.I am going to continue looking tomorrow and repair as I go,after that do any of you have any suggestions?
Thank you in advance.

Fix the known problems, and then see what happens. Be sure and visit the first gen dakota section as well. :D

Welcome to DF!

Thank you for the welcome to DF,it took almost 15 hours and after tearing a lot of tape off and broken and burnt wires the truck runs just like new, the burnt wires actually had nothing to do with the computer but when the previous owner replaced the engine and left all kinds of wires hanging and laying all over the engine compartment and in turn I found some of the main power wires (heavy gauge red) intertwined and wraped around the exhaust manifold ,a few were cut from being run through the fan belts , around pullies etc... but now that I rebuilt just about the entire harness ,SUCCESS ,just letting yall know and thenks for everything.

Well, it always struck me as kinda fruitless to keep looking once you find the problem. :D
