Default Hello from Florida

Hi everyone,

New guy here from southwest Florida. I bought my 05 truck brand new in 2006. Apparently nobody wanted it because of the manual transmission, manual windows and the white color. Oh well, it was just what I was looking for and discounted good. I had a 2000 F-150 before this but couldn't stand the light front end and steering/braking. The driving position was terrible on the 150 too, but most people disagreed. I test drove a Ram 6-spd when looking but liked the heavier front feel of the Dakota and it's more compact size. Really, there was no loss in capability just smaller interior dimensions. Power locks, fog lights, painted bumpers and factory hitch/wiring would've been nice but I didn't care. Most of that I've added cheaply. Now, 8 years and 95K miles later, I'm enjoying driving the truck more now than when new and tight. Of course, it's needed a few front end parts and now I'm having an electrical issue which I'll soon post in a technical forum. Just by browsing, I'm amazed at how active this forum is. Awesome. I look forward to contributing as well.

I added a couple of videos that I took after slightly changing my exhaust in early 2011. I left the link above the YouTube hosted video in case it doesn't show up on the post.

Welcome to DF. Be sure to check out the 3rd gen Dakota section. Bet that no muffler thing gets annoying after awhile....

Thanks for the welcome. I have and will be active on the 3g Dakota forum.

I recycled the muffler after keeping it in the shed for a year. It sounds fantastic inside the cab with the windows down and very little rumble/noise with the windows up. The Dakotas were equipped with 2 cats, 2 huge resonators and that 3-feet long muffler. Everything else but the muffler is intact so plenty of exhaust quieting and back pressure parts are still there.
