My wife purchased her new vehicle back in 2001. On the paperwork (I do have a question on the year though-below) and all it is a 2001 Dodge Ram 1500 quad cab 5.9 Lariat. She paid good $$ for it (rookie buyer). We been together the entire time she has owed vehicle. I made sure it was in top shape, either by taking it to good local shop(s) and/or the dealer. I have personally done very little maintenance (shocks, plugs, wires, and air filter) as most of it was done professionally.
Fast forward to Jan 2012 and she upgraded to new 2011 crew cab Texas edition with the non-transferable lifetime warranty. We got an end of year clearance deal on it. So we kind of made up for her spending a lot on the 2001.
I had a 1997 Chevy 1500 that was on it's last leg so i took over her 2001. Can't go wrong with a "free" vehicle. The vehicle has sentimental value and will not be sold, scrapped, given away, and hopefully never be totaled.
The question, from above, I have if it is really a 2001? On the driver rear door tag it says Mfg. Date 01-00. Wouldn't that make it a 2000 model instead of 2001? In the end it really does not matter unless she was led to believe she was buying a 2001 if it is a 2000 model. On all the paperwork it say 2001 model. Ever since I read the tag years ago I been wondering what year it really is. Now it really does not matter but it would be nice to know.
I been reading a lot about the plenum gasket and a few other items. I don't commute or drive a lot so the vehicle is great and reliable for what I use it for. Got a few pics of our rides in my profile. Thanks, this is a good site.
