Hey JCswm,

Any updates from Dodge on the "oil slude" problems with the Durango or Dakota w/4.7L engines.

If you don't know what I'm taking about, disregard.......

Guzzoo
We see them, mostly in the oil fill area only but some are worse
There is a TSB to install a baffle that helps!!!

I heard about the Durango ball joint problem and took mine in for service under the extended warranty('98 4x4). The dealer changed out the upper BJ on each side. Dothe lowers fail also??? I am wondering why they didn't change out the lowers????

Well that sucks, because the local chevy dealership said that if you wanted to put a supercharger on a new Chev Truck, as long as THEY installed it (for the 70 bucks an hour) they would work around it. Only thing they wouldnt cover is if you blow the motor, but tranny problems they would still work with, same with rear end and so on. Damnit, and I got the extended warranty. Better race for money so when I blow it up I got some spare cash! OR maybe I should go get a new SS... At least they will work around the supercharger.

I'll bet it's as long as they install a "Chevy" supercharger like the lightning
Dodge does not offer a supercharger (Yet) so it would be an aftermarket mod!!!

Why is the warranty voided on Naturally Aspirated vehicles but others come from the factory with Superchargers or Turbochargers? What makes an aftermarket Super or Turbo so much worse? There was also talk of Kenne Bell doing a deal with Chrysler, would that change anything?

Because the forced induction engines are built with that factor in mind, it's built for it. The N/A engines are built differently to produce the power in a different way, usually with higher compression, where the forced induction engines are lower compression(until they are boosting that is).[sm=smiley2.gif]

Buddy I sure could use your help my 96 ram 2wd really needs new ball joints the front end sounds like 50 squeaky doors in a haunted mansion, What kind of press will I need to replace these ball joints and can it be done without a coil spring compresssor, I am a fairly competent shade tree with lots of tools and a huge compressor.

You can use a vise sometimes to get the job done. Places like Advance and Auto Zone carry specialty tools for removing them that you can take out on loan.
