87 fifth avenue oil pump question
 
i am new to the forum.but ive got a question.i have an 87 chrysler fifth avenue 318 v8.the oil pump has went out and everyone i know tells me ill have to take the engine out to replace pump.i need to know is this right or wrong . this is the first mopar ive ever owned any help will be greatly appreciated my email is bolthrower1970@yahoo.com if any one can help[sm=dontgetit.gif]

You will have to remove the pan to do it, so pulling the engine is pretty much a given. I don't think there's enough room with the K-frame on a 5th Ave to pull the pan with the engine still in place.

I would have to agree. I just pulled a 318 out of a Diplomat (same car...different badge) last fall, and it didn't look like there would be a lot of room to access or manuever the front of the pan. [&:]
