Ford 6.2L power numbers are out
 

Ford is boasting the most powerful 1/2 ton pickup numbers for 2011. The 6.2L in the Raptor and F150 is going to have 411hp , 434ft.-lb. Outpowering our beloved Hemi by 21hp and 27lb/ft. Combined with their superior 6 speed auto, it should give the Ram a run for it's money!
Time to upgrade the Ram tranny to be competitive with everyone else!:icon_doh:

who cares about the power difference. Those are good HP figures but I would still buy the ram power wagon over the raptor or even buy the stock ram over it. If I wanted a race truck i'd buy an SRT. In this market is that even going to attract any buyers with gas creeping back into the $3.00 range?

Also has anyone else noticed the price of ethanol going way up? What is driving that? It used to always be 1.99/gal now its like 2.15

The regular F150 is getting the same engine so it will probably give the over torque managed Hemi a run for it's money. I still think the Dodge is a much better looking truck and would buy one again if I had to.
Ford trucks have been at the bottom of the barrel as far as power goes and they are finally stepping it up. I don't want to see out beloved Rams left behind.

The SRT trucks haven't been made since 2006. The 09 R/T is the fastest that they offer at this time.
It's time to upgrade to the 6.1L and a real transmission in the Ram and all will be good!!

Not to worry the only 6.2l that is posting those hp figures is in the svt raptor. All other models equipped with the 6.2l are rated at 385hp and 400 ft/lb torque.

I will keep my proven 345 hp hemi thats paid for, no need for a ford in my life, one item with Ford a lot don't know is thier trucks are dam heavy, so ya, engine numbers sound impressive but in the real world H/p numbersare just sqawk.

I was burned with Ford, loyal, and burned again, so I have no intrest in what Ford has for trucks, and I'm convinced no brand really out paces the othier during the long term.

To be fair, lets see what ford can do with 345 cubic inchs.

And I know the 5.0 4 valve is gonna come up now!!

Yep, the f150 is a very overweight pig!! My Ram only weighs 5240 with a full tank of fuel. I'm pretty sure the Fat150 is at or over 6K lbs.

I would rather have an EcoBoost anyway. Wish they'd put that in the Raptor.

The Raptor, Power Wagon, and SRT are 3 whole different animals. The Raptor is an awesome desert machine. The Power Wagon is an awesome rock-crawling machine. The SRT is an awesome street and track machine.
With the prices of Gas and Diesel going up, that drives up the price of corn because it now costs more to get it from the fields to the pumps.

That eco-boost gets crappy mileage when towing. The new 5L is a better option. That engine is too new to be trusted in a overweight truck and lugging around 16K at full load.
Not to mention, that down the road, it is gonna be costly and difficult to repair.
A good engine for the SHO Taurus, not so much for the truck. They are only pushing the sale of the eco-boost to try to keep their overall CAFE mpg numbers as high as possible.

I dont care what the MPG is while towing. Its gonna suck no matter what the engine is.

Diesel > Gas anyway. Why doesnt truck manufacturers recongnize that? If Dodge put a 4 cyl Cummins diesel that put out 420 ft lbs and got 25 MPG on a bad day and backed it with god's gift to to automotive enthusiusts, the manual transmission, I'd buy it.

HA! You read the pickuptrucks.com article, didnt you! Comparing the gas mileage of an EcoBoost towing 9,000 pounds to an unloaded 302 is crazy talk.
