That varminter is a really nice gun, much more accurate than a run of the mill AR. Full floating barrel.

As far as the SX2 goes, I'm not a huge fan, basically a re-branded FN. Although it shoots up to a 3.5" shell, it was known for having a problem handling both light loads, say 2 3/4", 1 1/8 oz. loads after it has been used for 3.5" "magnum" loads. To "band aide" the flaw, it was later shipped with both a "light" piston and a "heavy" piston you had to switch for the different loads.

As far as the value, retail was somewhere in the $800 for a new gun, with avg. store prices around $599.

IMO, take the cash...

You can pick up a super reliable turkish made shotgun like an Escort for under $400 that will go "boom" every time you pull the trigger with no matter what loads you put in it.
I have an Escort auto-loader I picked up new, on sale at BassPro for $269, not a magnum, but shoots both 3" & 2 3/4" and I've cycled both in it interchangeably with NO failures to date. It was originally going to be a "beater" so my vintage Remington 1100 wouldn't get beat up, but it's so problem free that the 1100 now sits and the Escort has become my "go-to" gun for everything from Dove to Waterfowl...

he told me the 3.5" wouldnt fit 3" only. dont know if that makes a difference. my plan was to trade the sx2 for a walther p99 or beretta m9

thanks for the help hammer, im going to start getting into guns , give me and my father somthing in common, he's always begging me to go fishing and hunting and stuff like that with him.not my cup of tea but couldnt hurt to make the oldman happy.
