Default So I found this cool old 70s ashtray... anyone know what it is?

Goodwill find! I saw the pentastar and figured it was something to do with Daimler.

Anyone have any idea what it's all about?

It looks like a souvenir ash tray that was custom made for an American serviceman. It's definitely hand made in (the former) West Germany. It's definitely hand made by someone talented.

Just saw the reply! So you think it's handmade? I wasn't sure if it was just a cheap gift shop item or what. Wish I knew the story!

The basic ash tray is a blank. The glaze has to be fired and that was done after the lettering was added. After looking at it closer, the Pentastar looks added by hand while the Germany, U.S. shield and other markings look like stencils. t was probably sold at the post exchange where he was based.
