I am an owner of a 300 C and follow the LX cars. I thought the Dodge Charger Base was a 3.5 with the 5 speed trans. I know the 300 base was a 2.7 4 speed. I don't think the Charger was ever intoduced with that configuration. Please check the Dodge Web site. I would not think they made a bastard model for the rental market. The 300 and Magnum models that I have rented in the past were both 3.5 litre. The 300 rental that I drove with the 3.5 and the 4 speed (2 years ago) was not the car that I own but was adequate for the purpose it served.

The economy fleet Charger has the 2.7 engine and 4 speed auto, but you can rent them with the 3.5 HO...and from what i hear the rental companies might have the HEMI engine available soon. (So yes they did make a bastard model to make it cheap!)

That sucks that you didn't have a great experience with the Charger.. I never knew it came with a 2.7

Like 03neonRT said, only the ones sold to the fleet customers have the 2.7's. My grandmother has a 300C with the 5.7 HEMI. She was going to hold out for a 300C SRT-8, but her Lincoln died too soon so she had to settle for the 5.7. It's pretty sweet; I hit 135 while I was driving on some back roads here in Wake County. Handles great, too. Too bad she couldn't wait for the SRT-8...

Sorry I'm late to this... the car got lots of looks... it was slow, but still nice to have on a short term basis. Yah, we want a Challenger...
