chip/module

im looking at buying a chip i was wondering whats better to buy a het stage 2 module or a actual programmer like superchips or edge and suggestions its for a 96 dakota 3.9L v6

anyone out there i was also wondering could i get a programmer for a 97 dakota 3.9L and use it on my 96 or no cause i can tseem to find any programmers for 96 and below
