I don't like the new format. Now technically guys who have clinched a top ten spot can wreck and DNF and it does not hurt them.

 

I'm going to give this a chance and see what happens before I pass judgement. With NASCAR you never know what's going to happen from week to week....[sm=smiley36.gif]

 

Yeah, you're right. I just don't like the fact that these guys who clinched can take it easy. What reason do they have to compete this week.

 

Yeah, I heard rumblings about some of the drivers "taking it easy" last week.....

 

I'm still not sold on the new system either... it's a toss up right now... I think it MIGHT hurt ratings... never know...

I think you're right if they decide to keep it. I think more people will be watching this season to see how everything pans out.....at any rate, it's going to be interesting, for sure!!![sm=interesting.gif]

 

The new format has kept me interested, but your right in the fact that the top end has become easier to stay in there even after DNFs or low finishes. At least Kasey got back to 9th.

 

They had a big article in the Dallas newspaper this morning about all the attention the new "system" is generating. Evidently, more people than normal are watching to see how this all works out. It also said a major reason they changed was that NASCAR was running into stiff competition for TV viewers from the NFL, the World Series and NCAA football, especially in years like last year when the championship was decided well in advance of the end of the season....

 

I did not realize that you qualify if you are within 400 pts of the leader, by the 26th races end.

 

I just learned that yesterday, reading the Dallas Morning News...proves how much I "listen" to the announcers when I'm watching a race on TV!!!!
