Yeah, I'm pretty sure he was just messing with you or he could have just been a bad driver, lol.
They aren't slouches, even in stock form. They are definitely faster than an Avenger with either motor...unless it's turbo'd of course.
Your mods do help you out too, but unfortunately, it's not a big gain.
You do have a good setup though, your motor can breath in easy, the burn is a complete one, and it can breath out easier. A catback would benefit you a bit better though and also get an underdrive pulley. Aside from that, you're about as far as you can go without spending a ton of cash with only minimal gains, sadly. [>:]
A turbo can help remedy that though...and it's supporting mods of course.

You can get an underdrive pulley from places like this...
http://www.autopartswarehouse.com/mmp/dodge~avenger~performance_pulleys~parts.html
Howell automotive sells them too..
http://www.howellautomotive.com/inde...amp;ProdID=345
..or..
http://www.customcargrills.com/prodd...%2301%2DD25PUL
and if you click "next" at the bottom of that ^ page, it will take you to the I4 UDPs

The UDPs are supposed to be lighter. The stock UDP is about 8lbs where the aftermartket ones like the one in that last link are in the ounces, like 14oz.

I've never installed one, but it's a pulley, it shouldn't be that hard to do and yes, you need two new accessory belts.

That's kinda fishy to me. The seller has a 98.8% and it's really cheap in price...fishy. It's also a no name and 1 lbs.
