4.7 vs. 5.3
I own a 4.7 Dakota Quad Cab 4x4, with flowmaster and cold air intake. A while back a guy in a Chevy p/u 5.3 challanged me at stoplights. Don't know what mods he had, had some kind of exhaust system, anyway I took him from the start for about 1/2 mile, till I had to turn off on my street. Just my 2 cents.

Good kill.;)

RE: 4.7 vs. 5.3
Did he just hollar out his window that he had a 5.3 or did you just assume it?
Is it possible he had the 4.8liter V8? Maybe the 4.3liter V6 with a exhaust system? |
RE: 4.7 vs. 5.3
someone would have to be awfully not in the know to mistake a 4.3 for a V8

RE: 4.7 vs. 5.3
Definitely had a V8, I know a V8 when I here one. It was a newer chev. So it could of had a 4.8 V8, I'll never know.

RE: 4.7 vs. 5.3
If by chance it was a regular cab I would bet good money it had the 4.8liter V8.
This holds pretty true in my area anyway. |
RE: 4.7 vs. 5.3
congrats on the kill

RE: 4.7 vs. 5.3
I raced my friends 2001 silverado ext. cab 5.3 V8 4x4 with my old truck::98' ext. cab dakota 5.2 V8 4x4::a few years ago when i was a senior in high school. both auto's, both with the exact same kind of exhaust.....we just did it for ****s and giggles.
From a dead stop (it had just god done raining an hour before) we both just sat there and spun, (very long burn outs) then i pulled ahead of him for about half a truck length up to about 50 mph or so (im guessing) then he showed me the tailgate up to about 90 then i flew by him again. and if im not mistaken the 4.7 is quicker than the 5.2, so it coulda been a 5.3 May as well tell this too: The next week we went out mudding thru fields and he ripped a mudflap clean off and i buried myself in snow well over the tires.....i wish i had pics both our trucks were pure mud no paint showing at all......good times good times (by the way it was spring) |
