One of my best friends cousins that I know pretty well also just got a 05 wrx about a month ago, and he wanted to break it in (manual says 1k miles, understandable) so tonight me, him, and my friend (95 modded eclipse, see past threads for my vid compilation of our cars) go out cruising, and we end up just fooling around goign back and forth on the streets. We come up to a 4 way stop and at first take of normal, and at a 10 roll I here him honk and floor it, so immediately I jump on it, initally he was ahead, at around 70 we were about even and at 90 i started to slightly pull at 100 i let off and was almost a whole car ahead. No for run 2 we go over to an industrial park with a straightaway road 4 lanes divided, about a mile+ long. So my friend in the eclipse was I guess doing his own thing, and we decided to let him fly down the road and see if there were any cops. Alright finally a run from a stop. And i'll admit im not a pro and not real great off the line. But we agreed on teh third honk we'd go. no he rev'd up a lil but i don't think he really built up boost and I took him off the line right away (so it was pretty much driver), but nonethless we are honestly about even drivers. the final run we hit going back on the other side of the road. this time my buddy pulled to the side and honked for us three times. I had an ok launch but to much tire slip, the 1-2 shift was a lil rough and right after shifting to third my foot slipped of the clutch, but no harm and we in third is when we were about even, when i was in 4th doing 100 at about 5k rpms i was half a car ahead and pulling, thats when he let up and then i let up at around 105-110, a good distance ahead , so it was fun, im sure a better driver would have beat me, (turbo, and all wheel.) and he did take pull ahead from a roll,(had a lil advantage as it kind of caught me off guard) and the third run off the line he was ahead, but in the higher speeds the crossfire caught up and pulled. just thought i'd share, any comments would be great, or advice for next time. (ps. i never droopped the clutch, just lightly feathered it out somewhat, but I can never find that right spot of right before it engages. i always seem to end up inching a lil when i first rev it up a lil). oh yeah he has a manual in case u didn't figure it out.

its a regular wrx, w/ stock turbo. not a sti

acutally there is a big difference. The sti has more power and is much faster. Sti matches up with the mitsu evo.

There is about a second difference on the dragstrip between an STI and a WRX.

haha, i wish we had some crossfires here that werent driven by old ladies, my buddy's stock looking wrx would PWN them lol

hmmm...stock "looking"??? :eek:. wrx's are nice, but styling wise i think they are rather ugly, I'd get a evo over a wrx/wrx sti anyday just my preference

I agree the WRX/STi is ugly... I'll take an EVO...

Wow, is the crossfire really that fast?? Not that a stock WRX is all that fast, I just would have thought it the other way around, interesting.

driver had a big factor, If you "magazine" race, the wrx should always win to 60, and quarter, but after the 1/4 the crossfire, should pull away (that and the wrx tops around 130 vs 150)

the caliber? how about the eclipse ralliart?? 400 hp AWD, basically a evo engine, and drivetrain, with even sweeter looks and less doors, and a much nicer interior

Well, both the Eclipse Ralliart and Caliber SRT-4 are ugly... I dunno, I don't know which ugliness I want... Wait, I do, I'll take the one from Mopar...

What!?!?!?! The Eclipse is ugly?? http://www.fast-autos.net/mitsubishi...eralliart.html at least it looks like a sports car, and it's going to have around 400hp! It looks like the 90's are back, all new eclipse this year, with a (I hope so very much) gsx/ralliart, the skyline is coming to the u.s, mazda brought back the rotary already (rx-8), and now all we need is toyota to join the fun and bring back the supra, considering they have no real "sporty" car out there now that the mr2 and the celica are gone. The caliber looks like a SUV more than car, but hey, everyone has their own opinion, and this just happens to be mine.

like i said...his wrx is stock "looking"....but looks can be deceiving...and yes, evo's are nice, but the interior is cheap looking and transmission sucks...even the 6 sp in the evo MR...actually, its rated worse than the 5 speed in the regular evo

i like the sti for the interior style, the hoodscoop, the boxer engine sound...and the strong 6 speed tranny...etc etc

Sorry, but the new Eclipse makes me gag, lol. And the Ralliart is still a concept, 400 hp Eclipse? doubt it happens...

toyota is bringing back the supra, its in one of my R&T magazines, its being kept fairly secretive. but can you blame them? its the new friggin SUPRA!!!!
