Ramcharger, Trailduster & Power Wagon Grrrr!! Tough Trucks! The Dodge Ramcharger and Plymouth Trailduster were full size SUV's that had good looks and brute strength. The Dodge Power Wagon was comparable to them in toughness, but came in pickup truck form only.

Unhappy 1992 Ramcharger Trobleshooting

My Ramcharger is pretty well maintained. I was driving and it just shut off with no sound or anything weird. It will turn over and attempt to start but wont. We have changed the fuel pump and replaced the distributor for a different reason. After the new fuel pump was installed and I tried to start it, it seemed to almost start then did the same thing. Any ideas?? Is there a relay or something I am missing??
I feel like it is something simple so I dont want to take it to the mechanic quite yet.

Make sure you are getting good spark down at the plugs first.

After that, probably want to check fuel pressure. (you can rent a gauge from the parts store.)

See what ya got.

Check your idle air control valve - it was killing MY RC last year too. Figured it was the factory original when I pulled it - it was more carbon soot than steel (and it's in the MOST inaccessible place on the back of your throttlebody too, FYI).

Cleared my stalling/hard starting problems right up!
