The indicator is hooked up to the shift with a spring-loaded string.

Or you could wrap the S/S headers yourself with header wrap. However, that will tend to hold moisture (when cool, of course) and cheap S/S may eventually rust.

But it always looks cool!

First thing I'd do is unplug and remove the O2 sensor before the cat. Take it for a drive. It will throw a code. Let us know how it feels.
