Sorry to hear. I would think any scrap yard would give you at least $150-200 for it, $50 seems extremely low.

When I said HGs I was referring to head gaskets, a notorious failure point on 3.0s....

Maybe for the average person. For someone used to handling vehicles and driving RWD, the sudden lack of turning ability is far worse than having the rear end kick out.

Likewise, you need grip on the front to control what the rear is doing. IMO it's far easier to use the front to control the rear via steering/throttle inputs than it is to control without grip up...

1. Did you get the code cleared after replacing the sensors?
2. Did the wiring get checked?
3. O2 codes may be a sign of cats failing, which will cause other trouble codes as well.

It's a 3.0? (Assuming by the hood bulge)
If yes, just buy a JY motor and put in it. Any SOHC 3.0 from 89-01 will work, all you have to do it swap your sensors/injectors/wiring over and it's good to...

Change your fluid/filter. ATF+4 fluid only.
If that doesn't solve it, it's likely already too late.

3.8 ecm running a 3.3?

So my 3.8L blew (random oil dump while driving) and I swapped in a low mileage 3.3L in it's place.
But I've been finding the 3.3L seems extremely sluggish compared to the 3.8L. This got me thinking...

Agreed. It's very easy to do, cycle key on-off-on-off-on (without starting engine), then the CEL will flash. Usually you'll get a code 12, you problem codes, then a code 55 is like an end code.

The front is easy as you said. The rear requires removal of the upper intake manifold to get at it.
It's not a bad job to do, just make sure you have new upper intake gasket ready.

They are not DIS.
It sounds like something let loose, potentially torque converter bolts, or something internally in the trans.

Sounds to me like they were shops that only wanted to deal with factory exhaust. A good shop will make you custom exhaust to get you what you need, most shops just want the easy way out.

Why do a swap at all?
The 3.0 can handle boost. 300hp is no problem on mild boost. They've been taken to 500+whp on stock internals.
Save your money/time and build what's there.
