I have a 2007 Dodge Dakota. When I turn my ac or heat on the air blows out of the vents but when I change to floor or the defrost the air stays blowing out the same vents and don't change. Does anyone have any ideals for easy fix.

 

Not sure if there is an easy fix. It sounds like either the floor/defrost door actuator has gone bad, or there is a problem in the control panel.
Will the fan speed change?
Just this morning I was trying to use defrost and it kept fogging up even more. I found out that I have no heat, so I have been reading up on the HVAC system. I think mine is a blend door motor. Best of luck to you.

I have a 2005 so your 07 should be very similar to mine. If you turn the fan speed to low and listen closely you should be able hear if the door is moving. Also you can put your hand on the motors. The directional actuators are on the driver side of the black hvac box. Also I removed my glove box and saw the recirc actuator through there. I could actually see the recirc actuator move. My problem is definitely with the blend door which is on top of the hvac box and the whole dash has to come out to replace a 25 dollar motor. It looks like the directional actuators could be removed without removing the dash as they are visible from the driver side floor. They only have three screws holding them in and an electrical connector. Try the feel and listen test and let me know what you find.

Two motors there. One is the defrost/floor actuator, and the other is the panel actuator.
So, when you switch to defrost/floor, does the panel door close, or does it seem like it stays open? It is possible there is a communication issue rather than a motor actuator issue, but you said you could hear the motor, correct? I guess it wouldn´t be too hard to pull both actuators and then you could visibly inspect the turning of splines. It may even be possible to pull the actuator and somehow manually turn the door splines by hand and see if it changes. The door mechanism could be broken.

 

Did you ever get your blower situation figured out? I was able to get a screwdriver handle in there and tap my blend actuator and it is working for now. Maybe was just stuck, but if it gets me through the winter I am happy. Just wanted to check up on you and see how it was going.
