Default 4.7 To 5.7 Hemi Conversion?

Hello, I have recently found a very nice 2002 dodge ram 1500 for sale, it has the 4.7 engine, but the engine is blown, I was just wondering how much it would cost to convert the truck to a 5.7 Hemi, or even possibly a 6.1 Hemi(not for sure about the 6.1 though as im sure the swap will be more troublesome and the engine would be expensive), but I was wondering what options there out out there for a conversion and how much it would cost and how difficult it would be. any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks ahead.

Default swap to 5.7 hemi

you can do this pretty easy cost of motor not to bad just find a good working 5.7 you want then keep the harness from it too you will need it also it will bolt up to you tran,s motor mount,s you will need to do also but so you know a 5.9 will work aswell n little change just a r/r doing this one but in any case this is a good start for you to look at im in the same place right now swaping out my 5.2 to 5.7 or 6.1 in my dakota

Not as much as you would think but it is a lot of work. You can buy complete drop in 5.7L Hemi engines with the tranny attached for $2500 off Ebay. Low mileage too. There's just so many of'em out there. They are dirt cheap and most come with all the wiring as well. The ecu isn't that much. Maybe $150 for a flash from the dealer.
You'll need some engine mounts, a radiator, y-pipe, driveshaft and lots of small miscellaneous pieces along the way.

I would not up grade to a 5.7. AS mentioned, a 392 crate engine, or a crate 360 is going to give you a lot more bang for the buck and I doubt a stock hemi will touch a crate engine, all the go fast goodies are all ready in a 392 or 360 crate engine.

Stock 5.7L----Complete low mileage 5.7L that includes tranny and all frontal accessories and wiring...$2500
392....Incomplete engine that is otherwise a bare longblock with an oil pan and valve covers.............$6500

That's $4k more and still doesn't include a transmission, injectors, any wiring, alternator, belt tensioner, not to mention you'll need a custom tune to run one.

When doing an engine swap like this will it still pass emissions? I thought that there was something to do with the computer or the engine had to be available for that yar or something like that... or is that a state to state thing? Anyone know?
