Help please-1995 dakota turns over but wont start
My 1995 Dakota 3.9L 4x4 turns over but wont start. No spark at plugs or distributor. Changed rotor, distributor, coil, plug wires and flipped the relays around and it still wont turn over. I tried to get error codes but check engine light doesn't come on. I don't know if it is burnt out or part of the problem. It was running fine then went to start it and wont turn over. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.

Welcome to DodgeForum!
First off, can you hear your fuel pump come on? My first guess is that the notorious power splice to the ASD and FP relays is corroded. There is a short write up in this section's faq page, but basically just pull back the insulation and look at the power splice. Clean it up and resplice it if it looks really bad!

Truck will not start- A common problem in the trucks, primarily ones made between 1993 Through 1995, was failure (corrosion) of the splice that feeds battery power to the automatic shutdown (ASD) and fuel pump relays. If these relays do not get battery power, your truck will not be able to start. This could also cause intermittent problems, or could possibly "kill" the truck when driving down the road. The splice is located underneath the Power Distribution Center (PDC), which is the black box located behind the battery. To Troubleshoot

Thanks for the quick response. I can't hear the fuel pump kick in. I will have to check for the splice. Are those the wires under the fuse box? Also is there a way to check and see if the computer is shot?
Thanks

There isn't an easy way to test the computer. You'll just have to get another computer and see if it makes a difference. You may be able to find a computer for cheap from a U-Pull-It junkyard. Otherwise, they can be expensive. There are some other things to try before you spend the money on a computer that may or may not be bad.
If the power splice is fine and the ASD and fuel pump relays are both good, try replacing the crankshaft position sensor. That sensor tells the computer when to fire, and if its bad, the computer will never fire the ignition.
