Default 2011 Front and Rear crossmember

Hello
I just got a letter in the mail saying they are going to extend the warranty on my 2011 Calibers front and rear crossmember. From what I am understanding it is from corrosion or can cause a shake in the wheel. I have babied my 2011 and it is not driven in winter and has 26500 original miles on it. The rust on the cross members is minimal due to I have not driven the car in the winter. I did however have a slight shake in the wheel and replaced the front struts the shake is mostly done but very slight. My question is has anyone been to the dealer about this and is the recall relatively new or am I the last to find out. In fact our Caliber is in storage because it is winter in Illinois. I am trying to keep this car excellent so when I retire in a couple years I do not need to get a new car. Any input would be greatly appreciate.

Hi Luke,

Owner's letters for this extended warranty were just sent out this month. If you are experiencing any of the concerns laid out in the letter you received I'd recommend visiting your local dealership for further assistance!

I had received the same letter for my 2008 Dodge Caliber SXT last year. I called my local dealership and they scheduled an appointment for me to come in for them to check my car over for the Cross Members. They found that my front one was bad and had to order the parts and rescheduled an appointment for me to bring my car back in. Took it back in they gave me a rental car as they were going to need my car for the whole day. I never had any issues with my wheel shaking, have you had your control arms looked at, the Caliber's are known for bad front control arms, I had to replace mine at 39, 000 miles. Just a thought.
