Anybody know how to fix a sticking glove box **** on my 1988 Dodge Dakota LE 3.9 239 V6. I didnt know if there was a quick fix. The guy that owned the truck before decided to screw the glove box shut.
Wow, a screw? Having a screw sticking out like that just seems so potentially painful (picturing knees contacting screw), and besides, its really going to slow access to the glove compartment .
I don't know the fix (I have no glove box), but maybe duct tape for now? Or a shorter screw...
I'm with Ralph on this one, those gloves box pieces are sold as a unit
and this one is discontinued through the dealer, I just looked it up,so a junkyard would be your best bet if you can find one.
Considering he screwed it shut, I am guessing it wasn't staying shut. Mine did this too.
Fix was super simple. The latch (not the door) is mounted on sheet metal. Bend it rearwards a bit so it's a bit more proud, and the door will latch perfectly. Good luck

The latch has two screws on the backside. Which piece do I bend rearwards?

Literally the metal that the latch is on. Takes 10 seconds to fix. Over time, the force of shutting it causes the metal to deform, moving the latch farther away from the door latch.

I will try that in a few minutes. Now, does your **** turn freely(like it should)? Mine is a little sticky & I have tried spraying WD-40 in the **** from the back side of the **** to lubricate the moving parts.

I don't think WD40 is a good choice. Use white lithium or maybe even graphite? Tri flow? WD40 is terrible.
