Default Transmission "blew"?

02 stratus r/t, automatic

(i haven't had a chance to personally check it out yet)
Someone else was driving the car along the highway.
They were driving and all of a sudden lost forward momentum.
Transmission fluid all over the road.
When shifter is moved to drive or reverse nothing happens, as if it were in neutral.
Thoughts?

Well if it lost all the fluid, it won't go anywhere. And continuing to try to make it go somewhere without any fluid will certainly cause more damage. There is no way to tell until you can get a look at it yourself.

Was the car ever abused?
Sounds like it may have launched the diff pin.
