Default E brake/parking brake, which one is right for my truck.

Hi guys and girls, I am having a lot of trouble getting the correct cables to fit my truck. I have a 1997 2nd gen extended cab (2 doors, 6 seats) with a short bed. The old cable had 5 pieces that made it up, 1 from the pedal, a short extender with joining bits, adjuster and the 2 pieces that went to the rear wheels. I have ordered several sets and none of them fit correctly I always seam to be either to long or to short when I try to match them up at the adjuster. Can someone help me out with the correct part numbers so I can get the correct set as being on the other side of the pond it's getting a bit expensive ordering the wrong ones.
Many thanks.

What are the lengths of your old original cables (in inches)?

Hi AtomicDog, I have no idea as the originals were rusted so badly that they disintegrated as I was trying to remove them and have been thrown away a long time ago. I have had to make it work but my MOT (our version of your DOT) inspector is getting fed up telling me to get it sorted. I have been to O'riely's and Kapa and come back with different sets that dont fit. From what I can tell the front cable is the same on all models and it's the rears that are different lengths wit the small cable just to make up the difference from a standard cab to the extended cab.

Cheers,

Cheers,
There are parts manuals available in the FAQ/DIY section here, grab the one for your year truck, and go diggin'. You should be able to find the correct part numbers, and from there, the parts store should be able to cross them to something that will work for ya.

Default 97 Ram 2500 EBrake

I am having same trouble w my 2500. My original setup did not have the xtender cbl in thr but seemed to wk fine so that is puzzling. Got the raysbestos cbl that is supposed t b correct on rear right but it is coming up 4 er 5" short of reaching the front cbl. What ended up happening in your situation?
