Talking 1992 or 91 B350 V8 5.9 ECU lost by repair supply

New to the forum, but i have a major problem. I just picked up a 1992 (that is the year on the chassis, but the engine is a '91) passenger van with really low miles. It was a county vehicle sold at auction. ANyway, the engine would die after idling for a while. It kept being an issue, so i took it to a shop. They concluded that the ECU was bad and sent the part away via their vendor to have it remanufactured. Well, now the part was lost by their parts vendor and they can't seem to find a new ECU. I am pretty frustrated. The shop is telling me that there are 3 or 4 different ECU's for that vehicle and the one that i had on the engine has a number of 79-7155. They can't find a replacement anywhere (according to them) Does that sound right? Now that the supplier has lost the part and they can't find a replacement what are my options? I have told the shop that either they find the part or a new engine and electrical system needs to be installed. Any advise would be most helpful.

Call a Dodge dealer with the VIN and they could probably supply you with an exact OEM part number

there are a dozen vendors of ECU on the net... when you have the correct part number start calling

Since you don't have one to trade in you'll end up eating the core charge, or rather the shop that lost it will.

thanks for the links. Both of those vendors do not have the part in stock and it has been discontinued. Is theater another supply? Partsgeek doesnt have it either.
