Default 2000 3.9 V6 Sport 4wd...4wd woes...

So recently, my u-joints on my front drive shaft started squeaking. This happened after doing a little off roading. I think it's been on its way out, just so happens this time, the mud must have been the last straw.
So, I took it upon myself to go ahead and take the drive shaft out. Now though, I'm sort of confused.
I'm not sure if I can just replace the bad u-joints, or if I have to replace the whole shaft, which is not cheap.
It's got a sort of a knuckle in the middle, with some sort of rubber seal that's went bad.
I'm not even sure what the hole "knuckle" thing is called to look up a replacement part, or if I even can.
Any help would be much appreciated.

Take it to a driveline shop. Should be $80 or $100 for the U-joints/double Cardan, and probably another $60-80 in labor. It requires a shop press to repair.
