Default What transmission?

Not exactly new to the forum but I have a 2005 5.7l hemi 1500. How do I determine what automatic transmission I have?

its either a 545rfe or a 45rfe. my 05 hemi had the 545 rfe

so count you shifts or check the id label on the left side of the trans just above the oil pan. easy way to tell if you have the 5 speed. 55pm if you hit your tow/haul button once it will shift out of 5th to 4th...if you hit the button a second time it will shift from 4th to 3rd.

they are the same trans, with the same case and internals but the 5 speed is programmed with a second overdrive gear. programming is the only difference.

5= forward gears
45 =torque capacity
r=rear wheel drive
fe= fully electronic

Automatic in an 05 5.7 is 545RFE. Starting in 03 until the 6 speeds and then 8 speeds all 4.7 & 5.7 were 545RFE.

A little confused. I have a 2006 Ram 1500 with a 4.7L 2 wheel drive... What transmission do I have? If I check the id label on the left side of the trans just above the oil pan, will this also show?

If you have an automatic, it's a 545RFE.
