Default 2001 Dodge Ram 1500 V8 Magnum Engine size dilemna

This may sound dumb, but I'm no mechanic nor technician. Can anyone help me figure out if my pickup is a 5.2L or a 5.9L? I need a transmission for my 1/2 ton, 2-wheel drive, Laramie, extended cab pickup. I used to look under the hood at the sticker, but it is too worn so I really can't find out now

One way you can tell from the outside is on the VIN number. There will be one posted somewhere that you can see from the windshield. On the 8th digit, It will be a Y, Z or 5. Y is 5.2, Z and 5 is for 5.9. Of course, there are other letters and numbers for the other kinds of engines that Rams have.
