Default Brakes are crap!!!!????

I have a 2017 Dodge Charger V6 SXT with Black Top Package

My husband took it to a local Autocross event and noticed after only a few application of aggressive braking the whole car would vibrate under breaking and the break smelled awful. This was after only one lap.

On the drive home, after the car had set about 1 hour, everything seemed fine.

But my question is are the stock brakes really not upto a bit of aggressive driving?

Probably not. You have a v6 charger, not an SRT. If you intend on driving the vehicle hard (racing, autocross, etc), a brake upgrade should be first on your list.

That pretty much sums it up. Those brakes are adequate for day to day driving, however keep in mind you have a 4500+lb boat that 1) does not have the suspension for that type of fun & 2) definitely doesn't have the high performance brakes for it either. Your options are police brake upgrade; SRT/Scat pack swap or aftermarket, none of which is inexpensive except for maybe the police brakes.

And you have your answer. Your brakes are more than adequate for day to day driving. You are probably looking at warped rotors at this point if the vehicle is shaking upon brake application. You over heated them to the point they warped.
