Default 3rd gen 4.7 to 5.9 swap info please

I currently have a 2005 ram 1500 with a 4.7 and I’m trying to figure out if the 360 swap would be worth while. Truck has over 200k on it and has had a horrible cold start not, smoking and oil consumption issues since I bought the thing 50k miles ago. When I first bought the truck I had been considering doing the 5.7 swap on it but I’ve heard so many bad things about that motor that I’ve kinda been discouraged. This is my first newer model dodge and the damn thing has been more reliable over the past 3 years of owning it than anything else newer that I’ve owned, that I really don’t want to get rid of the thing. Any suggestions? I’ve seen some places that a 5.9 swap is possible but there may be issues with the 545rfe trans (computer, harness, bolt pattern, etc). If that is the case, would it be more feasible to do the manual trans conversion? And if so, what’s the best standard for 3rd gen?

In basic terms your tranny won't work with the 360 but will the hemi. Wire harness won't work with the 360 but will with the hemi with minor modification. Computer will not work with the 360 but will with the hemi. Manual swap would be ok but would have to be for a 2nd gen ram

It would be easier to swap a hemi in than a 360, the computer systems are more alike for the 4.7 & 5.7, though you will have to decide how in depth a swap you're willing to get into. Long gone are the good old days of swapping engines around and everything just works.
