Hey guys!

I had a 2nd gen Dakota that I bought new, and put 190,000 miles on. The truck was rock-solid but we were moving, the Air Force wasn't going to pay for the vehicle to be relocated and my wife needed to fly because we had a 1 year old at the time. We sold off all of our vehicles except one, so the Dakota got sold... (NEVER SHOULD HAVE SOLD IT)

I was looking for a truck and if I'm going to get another Dakota, I figured I'd get a 3rd gen with the 6-speed. I really don't care if it has the 6 or 8 cylinder but I'd prefer a 4x4. I've been looking for months, and there doesn't seem to be much available after 2007. I like the final facelifted version better than the 2006 and prior gen 3s but I'm wondering if they just didn't make any because I can't seem to find them. Even when they do pop up on Autotrader, it's just an automatic that's been incorrectly listed. Did they not install the 6 speed after 2007?

According to theory, the manual was no longer available behind the V-8's after 2007. Not real clear on the sixes....... Of course, this is the USA, and americans aren't really as 'into' manual transmissions as the European folks... so, they may be out there, but, they are going to be rare, if they exist at all.

 

I like manuals also, but just not in pickups. Good luck finding one, I've yet to see one in the wild.

 

I look for used Dakota's all the time as I'm trying to get a 2011 with low miles. I've only ever seen one manual 3rd gen Dakota and it was a 2007 with the 4.7 V8. Never seen a manual from 08-11.

 

The manual trans for the 2008 and 2009 Dakotas were available only with the 3.7 motor.
There was no manual trans offered for the 2010 and 2011 Dakotas.

I have a 2008 with 6-Speed Manual. But it is the six cylinder engine. If you want eight cylinders and manual you need to look at 2007 and earlier.

Out of curiosity, was the 2008 and 2009 model with the v-6 also available in 4x4? That seems to be hard to find as well.

 

Yes. All models were available with 2 or 4 wheel drive.
