I have a 2007 mega cab 1500 gas. I am trying to find a power steering pump but can not figure out if I need a pump for a 1500 or one for a 2500 since it sits on the 2500 frame and axles. auto parts stores dont have the the 1500 mega cab as option. It is either 1500 or 2500. my issue is the steering locks up sometimes when driving slow. no other issues with steering.

 

So you installed a 1500 body on a 2500 frame? Get the one that replaces the one that’s already on it.

 

The mega Cab 1500 is built on the 2500 chassis. same running gear as the 2500, different spring rates. Pump can be a challenge, could be one of 3 different ones. Best bet would be to take several pictures, and match it at the parts store. I’ve always had issues when getting parts. If it’s chassis related, I always tell them it’s a 2500 unless they have a Mega Cab listing.

 

Ok thanks. Been a pain in the butt. Love the truck but I hate wasting time trying to find correct parts. auto parts stores guys dont know much either.

 

Run the VIN with the dealer and they will tell you which one is correct.
