Default 46 re rear band adjust?

hello, my truck is 2001 Ram 1500 with 46re transmission. My truck was not shifting into 2nd gear w/o removing my foot from pedal. I bought solenoid and transducer kit and when I removed pan I discovered broken band strut. I bought new band with new anchor and strut parts. All went well, I adjusted front to 72 in/lb and backed off 2 7/8 turns. While I had pan off, I thought to adjust rear band to 72 in/lb and backed off 2 turns. I now have good shifting into 2nd, all is good. But since I did this work, I now have shifting/skipping problems once I get up to speed. It feels like clunking and tugging. I had no problems in those upper gears until I touched that rear band adjustment, or so it seems. I followed required torques and settings for both adjusters. The truck has 230,000 miles, so I filtered and reused the old fluid. My question is, what did I do and what can I do to get back to where I was before I adjusted the rear band,,? I'm assuming that is my problem as those gears had no issue before this. Thank you

Both bands get adjusted to 72 inch pounds, and then backed off 2 turns. 2 7/8ths is too much. Yeah, I know, that is what the service manual says to do, but, the information I have comes from a guy that rebuilds transmissions for a living. He owns the shop.

Will it solve your problem? That, I am not sure.

thank you,, right now learning how to navigate in here. After I adjusted the rear band to 72 and backed off 2 turns, I noticed it now has less travel, slop, in the server lever/arm (excuse my terminology if wrong) Now am thinking I should not have touched the rear adjuster as I had no issue with it. Unless the 2 7/8 back off on the front is too much as you say, and it then affects the rear.? I was a so-so hvy equip mechanic, so I know little about automobile transmissions. This was a 'wing-it' job that seemed pretty straight forward. again,, thanks...

Yeah, I would seriously consider going back in there, and readjusting it. (sorry....) You can save the fluid, if you have a clean container, and simply recycle it, as opposed to just throwing it away. (depending on what it looks like.....)

The band struts and stuff falling out/breaking isn't unusual....... we see it all to regularly. (and there are some cool pics as well.... we LOVE pics. )

I don't think front band adjustment has any effect on the rear band...... it wouldn't seem like it should..... but, automatics are basically magic so far as I am concerned.

yes, only thing I can think is to loosen the rear band some?. I torqued it to 72 and 2 turns back, but that tightened it, the lever has less travel now, which would seem normal from wear of course. But now in od it seems as tho its trying to shift. Yes, they are magical, I'm hoping for a transmission wizard to find my question here

I wouldn't back it off any more...... might make matters worse.

Just out of idle curiosity.... Does your clunking/chugging start happening right about 45 mph??

I can't really say at what speed, I drove it around the block and shifting 1st & 2nd seemed great, feels good. Then I got on hwy and took it up to about 60 and leveled off. That's when I noticed the shifting issue, when I leveled off, so turned around and came home.

somewhere in my googling I saw a post where someone mentioned 2 turns back for the front and 2 1/4 back for the rear. Tomorrow I will 1st try to set front band at 2 turns back rather than my current position of 2 7/8 back,, then drive and see..? if that fixes, I won't have to go back in
