Default Push to start button?

i recently bought a 2012 Durango and it does not have the button to start the car. Instead you push the fob inside the hole and twist. I don’t think this is factory. Anybody know how expensive it can run?

It probable is factory. Post a picture of it. Can't even begin to guess at how expensive it will run.

The start button on my 13 is removable. You can then push the key in and turn. Have you tried just pushing it in? Or pushing in with your finger.

I know that a few rental car companies removed the starter buttons on their vehicles.

Isn't the removable button the backup if the key doesn't get picked up by the sensors? Pop the cover off and use the key?

Yes, if the vehicle came with keyless start. Some of the more basic models as well as older models came with the tip start with required the fob be inserted and turned. I know push button was available in the Durango by 2012, but I'm not sure if it was standard on all models or not.

Ah, thought they all did. Our 2011 Crew had it too.

The SSV models do not have push to start. Is it an SSV (police) model?
