Hello everyone.
i have a 2006 4.7L SLT automatic. After being a member of the fourm for a few months now I've been seeing a lot of members having an issue with transmission's.
So, to my question, I need to know what trans I have in the truck. 42RLE or the 545RFE?
My transfer case is the NV233 if that helps. How do I find out what trans is in my truck? And how bad are these transmissions?
You can also get a tranny pan with a very handy drain plug from Dorman and a nifty reusable pan gasket from LubeLocker to make servicing the trans a breeze.

Not to steal the thread, but are the 42RLE's pretty solid? That's what's in my 3.7 I believe and I'm just curious lol.
Haven't had any trouble with the 42rle Dakotas that I service in my family. They are much smoother trannys than the older 42re in the older 2nd gen dakotas but they still need regular service to make them last.I try to set them up to make it as convenient as possible for myself to work on.
