Default 94 Dakota 3.9L oil pressure gauge nonfunctional

I replaced the sender, but the analog dash gauge does not register. Turning key on pointer travels to full scale and back to zero.
Red oil can light is on dimly. I drive it so it must have oil pressure.
I do not find the circuit on my 94 schematic.
Any ideas?

Did you think to check the oil level?

1) When you replaced the sender, did you use PTFE tape on ALL the threads? The threads are the ground; you should leave the end two or so bare so that they CAN ground.

2) Check the wires in the plug; if they don't fit down all the way, you won't get a good connection.

I'll bet 1; the light is getting a weak ground through the gauge because the sending unit isn't properly grounded.
