1989 D100 intermittently stalls and idles poorly..
I have a 1989 dodge d100 5.2 2wd TBI and I put all new plugs wires in and then put new fuel filter in as well an oil change and it will idle fine and all until give gas and you can sometimes smell gas well and then here and there when put into gear will bog down and it will stall but it fires right back up and runs good again and I’d give gas before it stall can keep going any help will be greatly appreciated thanks!!

But reading up on the symptoms of a bad Hall effect s most kinda reminds me exactly how it’s acting and I had cap and all off it honestly didn’t look best so cleaned up with electrical cleaner but it still just did same thing...hmm I’m just ready for her to run great for once I have a lot of time and money in it new rear end new shocks all around new tranny fluid and filter new oil and filter new plugs wires oil pressure switch new wheels body patched frame repaired new fuel filter..just a headache

that code 23 is a bit strange but the rest are normal codes. i am not really super familiar with how to test the hall effects sensor. the sensor is secured to the distributor with 2 or 3 screws. it is possible that it might be failing. i don't know whether it is the age or mileage that causes the issues but it almost sounds like a lot more people have been having issues lately that sound like hall effect sensors.

Mine seems old and beat like I said and from what I read about a failing Hall effects s most sounds about right and my truck has 90,000 miles on her and as for how old the distributor itself or Hall effects sensor I’m not sure but I changed distributor cap wires and plugs... and what are some good symptoms that could pin point it to the Hall effects sensor in your opinion?..

i don't really remember the symptoms of a hall effect sensor going bad. i have not really had to do much work with TBI trucks lately. it is just one of the main sensors that tells the computer what the engine is doing and when to fire the injectors.
i believe code 23 is for the temp sensor on the throttle body. it shouldn't effect how it runs. i am pretty sure that is mainly there to help with hot starts. it is really not needed and only the v8's got it. the 6's didn't have it.
