Excessive oil consumption 2016 Ram 1500 5.7 hemi
Greeting, this is my first post.
I have a problem with excessive oil consumption and blue/white smoke intermittent on start-up. Been to the dealership 6 times already and they've just complete the second oil consumption survey. I'm using about a quart and a third for about 2000 miles (1.5 litres over 3500 kms.). So far they've change 1 valve stem seal on cylinder #4. While this did cut some of my smoke issues for a while it seems to be starting up again as well I did not notice any reduction in my oil consumption. I have a feeling that there is a problem with all the valve stem seals straight out of production. Whether it's the seals themselves or installation during production, I believe this is where the problem lies. I've made some inquiries and Dodge has come up with what they say are oil consumption guidelines that seem a little excessive to me. The thing is, since 2007 I've had 5 dodge pickups in my household and this is the only one that has had this problem. So I have a hard time believing this is normal. Does anyone have any experience with this issue? Sorry this may have been posted twice. I originally asked a question, had to register and it disappeared. When I register and posted, I saw my original question. My apologies as a new member.
