Default 01 to 94-98.5 cab conversion?!?!

I have a 2001 2500 ext cab 24v the interior is pretty clean (all except for a couple cracks in the dash). Exterior is shot has rusted fenders on all sides, holes in the top of the cab where I'm guessing some jackass put a "cheap" light rack on and took off, the lower body pannles from the fender to the back of the truck looks like some one walked down it with a ball peen hammer!!!!! So now to my question I have a buddy that has a GAS 94-98.5 ext cab that is in excellent condition so wanting to swap the cabs? I'm figureing an electrical nightmare plus I don't figure the dashes will be the same bolt pattern!?!? So I guess what I'm wondering is just how much of an electrical nightmare it would be and how much of a pane in the *** would it be to still try and mount the dash if possible? Please please need help

Seat mounts are different as well, along with seatbelts.... Electrical is totally different, and you will have to swap over your dash, and the entire wiring harness. Problem is going to be, seats, and seat belts..... Those are not going to be easy to mount, and make work. Not to mention, I don't think the seat backs on the 98 and newer trucks fold forward to access the back seat, and the older cab won't have doors..... You would be better off finding a more recent cab to swap over.

As HeyYou said it would be tough. Everything will work if you use the seats from the older cab but take all your electronics and dash from your cab. Only think I'd you would have a seatbelt light on but you can easily fix that. Only think they is different is seat mounting but the dash and everything is the same bolt pattern

Thanks guys I have a 01 gasser that not in bad condition as in no rust just minor dents and scratches would get a paint job either way just really don't want to mess with the whole dent puller and Bondo shabang but it's honestly the cheaper of the 2 routs! Just really kinda digging that there were no extra spots to bounce and bang around with the back doors gone also like the longer window for the back seats! But appreciate the info guys!

98+ seats do fold forward.

Any cab is the same sheet metal for 2nd gens but getting one that is closer in year would make the job much easier.
