I read a thread about how to read the code on my 1987 Ram by cycling the ignition. I can't seem to get that to work, any suggestions? I'm new to the truck, as we just received from my father in law. I don't want to call and ask him

Thanks, that's essentially what I tried but didn't flash. Light is off once I start vehicle, but as soon as I start driving it will fire back up. I'll keep digging

I saw that trick being used on an early generation GMC, does it work with dodge? If so do you know if it's the same 2 ports, top right?

Do these first gens have a check engine and a engine maintenance light that feeds off mileage by chance?

 

No maintenance light that I am aware of.
