Default Need help confirming shocks/struts for 1985 Shelby Charger 2.2 Turbo

Hey everyone,
I’ve been digging around trying to replace the suspension on my 1985 Shelby Charger 2.2 Turbo (L-body) and ran into some confusing info I wanted to double-check with people who actually know these cars.
I came across Sachs 030 001 shocks, and multiple sites say they “fit” my car when I enter my exact model. But from what I’ve been reading, those look like they’re actually meant for older Ford trucks, not our cars.
So I just want to confirm:
  • Has anyone here actually used Sachs 030 001 on an L-body?
  • Is this just another database error mixing up Chargers?
From what I’ve gathered so far, the correct setup should be:
  • Front (struts): KYB Excel-G 234001 or similar
  • Rear (shocks): KYB 343161 or Monroe 5818
Does that sound right?
Also trying to decide which direction to go:
  • Budget / stock ride: KYB all around
  • Better handling: Koni (STR.T or Yellow if I can find them)
For those of you running setups:
  • What are you using front/rear?
  • How does it feel compared to stock (especially boost squat / body roll)?
  • Any part numbers I should be looking for instead?
Not trying to build a full race car, just want it to handle solid and not feel like a boat when the turbo hits.
Appreciate any help
