Consider the cost of replacing a damaged composite headlight these days - $hundreds to $1,000+ per side in most cases. Adding a layer of protection against the elements is a good idea - plus these are much easier to maintain than old fashioned clip on covers, which are just as susceptible to pitting as your headlights and susceptible to theft. While other companies may use thinner 2-3 mil sign vinyl (known as overlays), 8 mil paint protection film, or older thicker versions of 40-120 mil vinyl we have found that our 15 mil films offer the best combination of protection, ease of install, along with long term performance. We use a tough high performance vinyl that is designed to protect the lens first and foremost. Our lighting protection kits are manufactured from a 15 mil thick material for maximum protection and a long service life. For those of you with a clear bra, these are more than twice as thick to absorb impact energy. Granted we are not talking about magic deflector shields and if you hit something big enough, going fast enough you run the risk of putting a hole in your headlight or fog light — no matter what you have covering it! Glad you liked them, though sorry about Buick. One of the few manufactures we do not have options for.
For legality of any of the options you would need to check with your state / country if you are really concerned about it. Given the tangled web of laws in the US we state they are designed for off road use. We have never had a problem with running our HID Blue headlight covers as they shine bright white, and of course our clear covers are generally unnoticeable. We prefer to offer everybody the same discounted price every day with no special codes, coupons or secret handshakes needed. No FOMO. No worry the person before or after you received a better deal because they knew something you did not. Overall a more equitable solution. Forum members do get first access to the additional promotions we run. While we do try and ship all orders in by 2PM Central the same day, sometimes the volume on a particular day is too high to meet that goal. In those cases order processing and production preference is given to forum members who let us know where they found us in the check out questions. |

A few questions this week on other threads / emails about applying one of our headlight protection film kits to older / pitted lights vs brand new vehicles.
If you just have light pitting / hazing the adhesive on the materials we use will tend to fill them in, netting a clearer light. Cruising trough a hectic week. As of Wednesday evening, all orders in by noon Wednesday have shipped. From this weeks shipments USPS is about 1 day behind normal deliver times to all of the USA save CA. CA is running about 2 days behind normal even to areas not directly in the numerous wild fire areas. A lot of systemic challenges there.
We have fielded a number of questions recently on uv exposure / hazing / fading / clarity issues on polycarbonate headlights.Modern headlights come with a hard uv coating from the factory. These coatings are much better that they were decades ago as manufacturers transitioned to composite headlights. If you took a brand new headlight and placed it in the sun the uv is not going to have much effect on the lens in any useful time frame. The most likely reason your headlight will fog up / did fog up is not usually do to UV on its own. All headlights come with a hard protective UV coating from the factory. The problem starts when you drive your vehicle without a lighting protection film applied to the lights. Over time sand and road debris chip the hard coating the headlights came with and the sun starts to break down the polycarbonate. This process happens slowly, little by little. So slow you don’t notice it until it is too late. If you then sand down and polish the lamp and return the clarity you must protect the lamp from both exposure to the atmosphere and UV otherwise you will have the fogginess return. While you could use some sort of polymer sealant they typically do not last that long and of course will do nothing again further pitting – and pitting was the root cause of the cloudy / foggy lens. Your best course of action is to protect the lens with our Headlight Armor lighting protection kits! As always, if you have any questions about our Headlight Protection Film applications let us know. It is Officially winter! We closed out a busy week and are happy to report all orders in by the shipping deadlines (Our deadline and USPS's) shipped out on time! USPS has estimates of 12/24 for those shipments. All orders in by Noon yesterday (Friday) shipped out Friday. We are working a half day on Monday the 24th and will be making sure all orders placed Saturday & Sunday ship before we close for Christmas.
