Use a 3/8" drill bit to gently drill off the melted plastic button blobs holding the small trim panel in. There are six, so don't go drill crazy! Once they are about flush with the darker plastic panel of the door, use the drill bit (do not apply power) to gently push one end of the trim panel out.
