Dodge Slashes Prices on Durango and Hornet Models Amid Market Shifts

Dodge has made a bold move by reducing the prices of its Durango and Hornet SUV models, making them more competitive in the market. The 2025 Durango GT, the entry-level trim, will now start at $38,495, reflecting a $3,500 decrease from its previous $41,995 price tag. Despite being a 14-year-old model, the price cut may make it more appealing to buyers looking for a spacious, three-row SUV with solid performance.

The Durango R/T, known for its 5.7-liter Hemi V8, also benefits from a significant price reduction. The 2025 model will now start at $49,995, down from $54,890, offering a $4,895 savings. The 360-horsepower V8, which delivers 390 lb-ft of torque, continues to provide the power and towing capacity that Dodge enthusiasts appreciate.

Durango SRT Hellcat: Supercharged Performance for Less

Perhaps the most noteworthy price adjustment is on the 2025 Durango SRT Hellcat, the high-performance variant of the SUV. This model, featuring a supercharged 6.2-liter V8 that produces 710 horsepower and 645 lb-ft of torque, will now start at $84,995. This marks a $11,000 reduction from its 2024 MSRP of $95,995.

To put the price drop into perspective, the 2023 Durango SRT Hellcat was initially priced at $113,720, meaning the new 2025 model is a staggering $28,725 cheaper. Despite this massive discount, the Durango SRT Hellcat remains an ultra-fast three-row SUV, capable of accelerating from 0-60 mph in just 3.5 seconds, covering a quarter-mile in 11.5 seconds, and reaching a top speed of 180 mph. The price reduction makes it a more accessible option for buyers seeking muscle car-level performance in an SUV package.

Dodge Hornet GT Sees a Competitive Price Adjustment

Dodge is also cutting prices on its compact Hornet GT, making it a more enticing option for budget-conscious buyers. The 2025 Hornet GT will now start at $29,995, down from $31,585, offering a $1,590 discount. This price point puts it in direct competition with the Ford Bronco Sport, which starts at the same price.

The Hornet GT is powered by a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that produces 268 horsepower and 295 lb-ft of torque. It comes equipped with a nine-speed automatic transmission and standard all-wheel drive, making it a compelling choice in the compact SUV segment. Dodge claims that the Hornet GT delivers the most horsepower in its segment for vehicles under $30,000, reinforcing its performance-first approach.

The Rationale Behind Dodge’s Pricing Strategy

Dodge’s decision to slash prices is likely driven by market conditions and broader economic factors. Over the past few years, Stellantis (Dodge’s parent company) has been criticized for its premium pricing strategy, which may have contributed to slowing sales. As the U.S. economy faces uncertainty with mass layoffs and global trade concerns, automakers are adjusting their strategies to remain competitive.

By making the Durango and Hornet more affordable, Dodge aims to attract more buyers who might have been deterred by rising costs. The price reductions take effect on March 6, although buyers should note that all prices exclude a $1,595 destination fee.
