You'd think this would be enough

The 2018 SRT Demon is one hell of a production car in stock form, with the juice to get the car to 60 mph in a scant 2.3 seconds and run the quarter mile in 9.65 seconds. If for some reason you don't think 840 horsepower is enough power to have in a drag racing fuel guzzling monster then Hennessey Performance has got the Demon for you. Owners who opted for the Demon Crate have the choice to even run the vehicle on race fuel if they so wish to. However, what about those folks who saw the spec sheet of the Demon and with furrowed brows demanded MORE aloud?

How much is too much?

Hennessey Performance Engineering has used their tuning expertise to pry even more power out of the Demon. The HPE1000 is the entry-level package and makes 880 horsepower and 806 lb-ft of torque to the rear wheels. If you have the cash and are feeling a bit off your rocker, there is the HPE1200 and will come with a roll cage, parachutes and SFI approved parts.

Quality over quantity

Hennessey gets the Demon to those performance numbers with upgrades like stainless steel long tube headers with high flow catalytic converters, a 4.5-liter supercharger and crankshaft pulleys, and a new Hennessey ECU with chassis dyno calibration. All those upgrades come with a one-year, 12,000-mile warranty, a before and after dyno graph to hang on your fridge or in your office, and a Hennessey badging for the car.

Way too fast

Hennessey recorded these numbers at its home track, Lonestar Motorsports Park, on May 8th. In those runs, the HPE not only managed to beat the stock Demon's quarter-mile time but it did so at a higher trap speed of 152 mph. The HPE Demon is capable of these feats because it has a link lock and trans brake that allows it to come shooting off the line as if it were stapped to a military level rocket.

Going, going, gone

The SRT Demon in stock form is a hard one to grab with only 3,300 units being produced, but the HPE1000 will be even rarer with just 50 Demons.  Here is a video of an HPE1000 strapped to a dyno for a run where the car put down 880 hp and 806 lb-ft of torque. The output at the crankshaft is 1,065 horsepower and 967 lb-ft of torque putting the HPE at a considerable 216hp more than a stock Demon. If you're not video'd out, yet here is Hennessey clocking the killer car at 146.7 mph in the quarter mile. The modified Demon reportedly hit 60 mph in a blink and you'll miss it in 1.93 seconds.
